With this confirmation by David, we should really change the date from the 24th to the 25th and we can be happy that it now all fits together: the newspaper article and the tape.
I'd like to ask the caretaker of 1970 to switch date. Thanks Jim.

as i see it... it all derives from the 1st gen cassette i have which includes a bertha as i copied it onto the dat i sent ... you will have noticed ( as my note also stated) that this is a diff recording soundwise and does not belong to the rest of the show...but it might have been taken as 2
question
are we going to have more posts in future where plp offer their dead items for sale... isn't that to be done on ebay??

hi
i was wondering what makes this version different from the one here db.etree.org - SHN Detail for Grateful Dead - 09/03/72 aside that the one jim will put out is missing the encore
also i do not agree that there are diff sources to the aud tape its all the same taper who just has his micro in
and also while we are at that topic it's on the acoustic Rider on 4-24/25-70

hi folks
now you have read the newspapaer clipping and it looks like the author was quite familiar with the dead tunes.
My new idea is :
we dont have a tape of 4-24-70 but of 4-25-70
richard wethey who taped the show lists no exact date on the sheet he sent along the reel when he swopped the ta

painfully anticlimactic.
Understatement of the Year: The Grateful Dead are terrifyingly good.
They are an overwhelming, almost mystical experience.
Magic is alive and well.
from uliteute archive
as pointed out before by jim the man's world is from 4-24-70, the sound is definitely the same as on the rest of the tape
the songlist we have for 4-25-70 is based on a newspaper article which i have in my archive
of course it appears to be unfamiliar setlist to have DS> SS>11> Jam/ what foll
today i received the 1 st gen cds from gerhard s... and in a short "drive thru" i noticed : this is the same master than what i had for years plus the man's Man's worldbut it is definitely from the same master- aud rec. the good news is that the old version sounds piss-poor, whereas the new
i talked to gerhard schinzel on the phone and asked him about his reel of 4-24-70
the master was done by some richard wethy, who despite the poor result insisted on sending it to gerhard in the 70's due to the fact that it was his first ever recording. we can not go back to him, because for more th

i am somewhat slow...but at 4.44 after deal (d1 t2)there is this station ID(WMAL) and if this bleeds thru while copying it was very well placed( not during but after the song, would this bleed thru-effect be on purpose ...no that couldn't be ) so now can anyone of you solve th
the 2-19-69 review is the one i was looking for a long time...never knew it was from the rolling stone...always thougt it was from S.F. Chronicle...because this one is reprinted in The Dead Family Book byJ.L. Brandelius at page 47
someone who attended the show posted an statement about this gig
. not only did jorma record the dead ,,he also taped the airplane sets on both locations

well mics on stage can result in fine aud tapes..esp in early times when equippment to record with wasn't as great as today > the mic picks up the monitor-mix and that might be better than a distant recording with lots of talk and other noise
whether the 12-18-73 is one of those i don't know...b

hi jim
thanx for posting your songlists to these showsit's from you that i got my copies (several years ago) and there is nothing wrong about thembut the question remains the same:
couldn't it be,that the 2 tapes belong together?
anybody out there who is willing to splice the 2 b-x-eyed to
sure it could be much earlier (as jim states)...but then keep in mind that the earliest known versions of DS never hit the ten minutes mark, not until late summer 68... all before are very short affairs with hardly any exploration of the dark star theme...the rehearsal version clocks in at 13 min...
had this post up 2 month ago... noboby made any comments..so here i go a 2nd time,
i can hardly believe no-one out there wants to set the record straight
Ever since i got the batch of 3/68 in 96 i was wondering why noone ever jumped to
the
conclusion that.the B-X-eyed# on the 29.th is contin

The article in "The Family Book" is to be found on p.47

hi jim&dave
i also read this article in" the family book" and i always wondered... but from what could be read (couldn't someone show up with the complete article) the dead were playing music (and maybe stripped while doin so)and the writer describes a long jam ,go read it again... and i hope you a
Maybe this is all mistaken for the 72 4cd box " England 72 "
If not i woudn't mind to see more of that tour, but we already got the dick's pick from
london 74 therefore i doubt any furthur release from the 74 europe tour.
