Never mind, it was Reeves Field, built in 1949.
Anyone know the name of the actual building this show took place in?
Hey Richard,
I am looking for this show. A good friend of mine meet the
band in golden gate park in the summer of ’70 and then brought them to
his college (American university) on this date in 72.
We would get a real kick out of hearing it again but I have
not been able to find
if you listen carefully to the tape/cd. there is a tape pause which
leads to cables being jostled and the wmal-fm announcement and then what
sounds like an intro to "he's gone" and then back to tuning for the
third song. wmal is currently an am station, who knows what it was in
1972. am in more

Right after Deal on 9/30/72 an announcer says
"You're listening to WMAL FM-stereo in Washington, D.C."
It sounds like an announcer live during the show.

FM
Agreed that's it's possible. But I find it odd that some radio
station broadcast a show and apparently NO ONE taped it. For 25+ years
nothing circulated from this show until the
girl-who-knew-Latvala-or-whatever cassette surfaced.

It is possible for the recording to be pre-broadcast and still
have the station ID. If the DJ was there at the gig, the
announce microphone mould have been mixed in there before the signal
was sent down phone lines to the station.

hi jeff ,noah & david
i am somewhat slow...but at 4.44 after deal (d1 t2)there is this station ID(WMAL) and if this bleeds thru while copying it was very well placed( not during but after the song, would this bleed thru-effect be on purpose ...no that couldn't be ) so now can anyone of you solve th
i am almost certain that the radio station chatter on the tape was
caused by the mic cables, amplifiers or other electric equipment picking
up the am signal. i am almost certain that there was + still is a
large radio tower on the au campus. there is a good chance that wmal
b'cast from that tower
more plausible to me. Dream or otherwise.

David, that actually sound even more plausible to me. Dream or otherwise.

Wasn't that bleed-through from the 2-cass gen tape? I believe it was
probably bleed-through from what was recorded on the tape prior. I seem
to recall being told that 2nd gen tape was made on some crappy
equipment, likely with a cheap (i.e. used) tape. Or maybe it was just a
dream. It's been a
