I am running testing/unstable. I just enabled i386 multiarch mode, installed
package ia32-libs and all its dependencies, and then run
make-googleearth-package, which d/l version 6.0.3. All through with no errors.
Now when i launch the binary, it responds with:

probably freaked it a bit. Firestarter seems not to work now.
Suggestions on getting it used to what I did welcome.

My main box is amd64 debian testing/unstable. Can i do this ? -
(1) plug in a harddisk with a 32 bit ubuntu (maverick), taken from a remote
offline computer,
(2) do a chroot into the maverick
(3) aptitude update and download missing packages
(4) back to the remote computer, perform the

access to the last remaining IDE channel (for a DVD drive) and thus i decided
it was easier to just plug off some of the more difficult hardware, and boot
that external drive directly.

Usually you have such a link in /dev, pointing to the real device (as
configured by udev).
If you need to check things out then try this, in a root terminal:

I'm ready to ask this on another list too, but let me give it a try.
I wanted to setup some custom boot tasks in /etc/rc.local, which is said to be
the right place for it. However, it appears this script is executed twice when
booting into runlevel 2 !
It's a Debian Sid system, daily
copy the files on to CD and then send
them by old fashioned snail mail. That really would confuse the hackers.

Maybe you've got the same weirdness as me. Crons FAILs in the syslog because it
got started twice. Indeed the whole init runs kind of twice for me, i could not
track it finally yet. It's just that all rc2 script get launched twice.

post the old config file /boot/grub/menu.lst and the new one which is

But I noticed there is a 2.6.18-6-amd64
Whats the difference between these?

AMD64(dual xeon) etch box with 2.6.18 kernel, 8 Gig memory but no swap space.
(forgot to turn it on)
Filesystems are ext3 and mdadm Raid10.
I have noticed that 2 of my 6 drives have some SMART errors but mdstat
looks fine so far.
Box hung completely and had to hard reboot it.
