after insallation. Both in multiuser and singleuser modes it hangs after
checking root filesystem and line "Clearing up ifupdown...", but echoes

I can confirm the bug, and that the patch is working.
It'd be great to get it applied, because when I use rubber as a
compile command in latex, it switches to the error location in rubber

I've just done a quick check in pbuilder and adding cpio to the build
depends indeed seems to be sufficiant to make the package build.
