I now found out that shortcut keys work without any problem when vlc is
in full-screen. If you go into full-screen, I can easily press 'f' to go
out of full screen mode, but I cannot press f to go into full-screen
mode. Only via menus.

menu was indeed counting the entries wrong (it was counting the number
of lines in `update-menus --stdout` instead of the number of menu
entries in the file).
I have fixed this bug in CVS, and it is pending for the next release of
menu.

translators, so the Danish translation was practically unuseable.
