since KDE 4.4 the connections are always shown in the left corner of the top

I thought it may be a KDE bug, but I have got it now also with kde 4.{2,3,4}.
If I login in KDM and my last session starts (with pidgin) the systray icon is
mostly only white, if I restart pidgin, it is fixed.

Without hal, the batterie applet could not get the batterie infos etc, but there
is no depend on it.
I think a suggest or a recommend on hal would be nice.
