Hi,
Smstools (also 1.x) supports PDU messages and this mode is also a default.
Older versions of smstools supports ASCII mode also, but this should be used
for testing purposes only. Current versions (2.x and 3.x) do not support
ASCII mode anymore.

Error description:
Generaly this is not realy a wish, since it is required else
smstools will be worthless in a very short time.
Since some month I receive on my SMS-Gateway-Server more and
more SMS coded in PDU
