e Xsession script of KDM
was broken and no longer included the Xsession scripts from /etc/X11.
It should look like this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/kde3/kdm/Xsession
#! /bin/sh
# Xsession - run as user
# invoke global X session script
. /etc/X11/Xsession

if you do it anyway. Are you sure it works
on your hardware without damaging it?

which will soon (hopefully) be released as the next stable version, and
it works well for me, but again, security issues being fixed can take
some time in Sarge.

Try
deb http://ma2geo.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de/public-debian sarge/
if you use testing. I didn't check for stable or unstable. On Sarge
these packages work.

Run
apt-get install locales
and select [EMAIL PROTECTED] or whatever it is called. If the locales packages
is already installed, run dpkg-reconfigure locales. You probably need

Maybe if you install Cygwin and XFree under Windows:

Perhaps you could use VNC instead.

it and adding yourself to the audio group
normally is all what you need to do to get sound. However, you have to
find out which driver you need. Maybe groups.google.com or the
sndconfig program can help you.

ake problems with kernel 2.6. PS/2 mice
are mapped to /dev/psaux /and/ /dev/input/mice, and with both entries,
all events are registered twice. If you permanently use 2.6,
select /dev/input/mice as your mouse device. Read the kernel 2.6 input

If you use Kernel 2.6, select /dev/input/mice as your mouse device, even
if it is a PS/2 mouse.

Significant? That would have been the last 20 lines, not 1000 lines.

which driver you need. Use lspci
and a search engine to find out. If you want to use the alsa drivers,
install the alsa-base package and run alsaconfig. After loading the
driver, make sure you are in the audio group.

way to find these files, apart from grepping /var/lib/dpkg/info.

Apt downloaded the package list. Because you changed the source name
from unstable to sid, apt assumed this had to be done because the local
list for the "new" source was missing.

, so you normally use the IDE device files. However they belong
to the disk group, and you have to change the device file for your
cdrom to group cdrom. And don't forget that you need a cable from your
CD-ROM drive to the sound card, or you need to use the cdread plugin.
