problemas con Xserver

aupa acabo de instalar woody y durante la instalacion no tuve ningun problema. No obstante, cuando intento acceder al entorno grafico me dice que hay problemas para conectarse al Xserver. alguna idea?

Bueno, empecemos por el principio: he instalado woody (vanilla) en un portatil P4. La instalacion ha sido rapida y sin problemas. Sin embargo, una vez finalizada y de haber accedido mediante text-login a la consola, he intentado conectarme al Xserver (usando startx y xinit) y no he podido.
