while I had video output going to an external monitor Xv
playback would bluescreen. If I started the X server with video to the
builtin LCD it worked fine (even if I later plugged in the external
monitor and redirected the video output).

Hi all,
Up to very recently, I could watch vcd movies on my box using xine video
player with Xv as the video driver. However, I came to discover yesterday
that Xv video driver had become inoperative after either upgrading xfree86
from version 4.1.0 to 4.2.1 using the deb package or installation

I "registered" it a few years ago, when I was using RH, and I like
"seeing" my name when I start it up ;-)
I did find mt "problem". Being tired,

Yeah, that's where I found the original source archive of 3.10a-26 that I
have.

Uh, no. I'm not about to get into *suppo

Of course.

Why? All the necessary patches are on the web site.
Has anyone gotten xv-3.10a to compile successfully under debian, with
all patches applied?
I'm having trouble getting PNG support compiled in.
Everything compiles okay, but I cannot find where to "add" the zlib &
libpng path(s) to the "Makefile" to get them linked, s

Hello
I have a Matrox Millennium G200 graphics card. When I use the XV
extension, videos render scrambled. This does not happen with XSHM (but
XSHM is too slow). Does anybody know what the problem is?
As a solution, I tried installing 'mga-vid-source', I extracted it to
/usr/src/module
All I get when I try to use xv output is a blue screen (I have tried the same
file in mplayer, xine, and ogle). XFree86 loads the xv extension on boot,
all the different utils say that its there and that it is supported, but I
always get the blue screen
