Never used apsfilter, but such scripts are supposed to live in /usr/sbin and
are usally named package-config.

I want to use an apsfilter instead of magicfilter and I cannot find this

I removed the magicfilter package from my system, and installed
apsfilter instead. I have used apsfilter in the past with success on
my slackware system.
However, after I installed it, I cannot print anything.
For instance, if I type lp file.txt, I get the following message:
no printcap
Apsfilter 4.9.1-10 has not been installed correctly (dselect) and I get the
message:
dpkg: error processing apsfilter (--remove)
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attemting a removal
The problem is I am unable to get rid of it using dselect remove
Hi!
When using apsfilter for printing to an ethernet printer the
input filter 'if=..apsfilter...' is _not_ run. This has to do with the
fact that normally the printer spooler does the filtering. But if I
mention the printer itself in the printcap file, like
:lp=:\

Hi,
I don't know what apsfilter does, but you probably need to write a
script to call the apsfilter files. I'm using magicfilter to print
postscript files to a non-postscript printer on the network. Printing
to lp calls my input filter remote-filter which pipes the output
from magicfilter to lp
