Physically I'm running a debian server 4 for the e-mail, but I'm having
problems to use the tool to perform VM virtualization. I wonder if there
is another way to virtualize this machine, do some kind of backup so you
can import it in vmware. Does anyone have any tips that might help?

Creo que ya no estan disponibles los repositorios para etch. A nosotros en el
curro nos pasa igual y estamos planificando la actualizacion a lenny y despues

Call me crazy but I'm still using Etch on my server. It's very stable
and does everything I need it to do so I'm sticking with it. My problem
is I can no longer get packages for it because it is so outdated the
apt-sources list is no longer current and doesn't work. Where can I get

local não temos acesso à Internet.
Quando precisava instalar algum programa copiava os arquivos .deb do
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages para um pendrive e instalava com o dpkg
-i
Você pode colocar no /etc/apt/sources.list da sua máquina a linha
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free
e baixar sem instalar os pacotes com apt-get usando a opção -d:
# apt-get install -d pacote
Depois é só copiar os pacotes baixados do diretório /var/cache/apt

Well, maybe something happened to passwordless authentication - did you try
to connect using password, not RSA key? To do so, you can simply move
~/.ssh/id* somewhere and try to connect. You should be asked for a password
that time.

I'm trying to steam World Cup games, which I've been doing fine
until now. But CBC our national broadcaster has switched streaming
systems and now requires that I upgrade to Flash Player 10.1 on
Etch. I don't think it's possible. Leave it to a non-free package
to screw up my system

You could install a package like:
linux-image-2.6-your architecture
what this does is depends on the latest Linux kernel 2.6 and modules.
In other words if you have this installed it will always have the latest
kernel there too.
You might not want that.

raar, want er zit toch geen security-support meer op Etch?
O.a. deze packages:
