Hi,
Is anybody having problems updating and upgrading today? I see that
package the testing locales package now depends on glibc-2.3.6.ds1-1,
which is nowhere to be found. It may simply be a matter of waiting for it

How can I do this if dosemu depends on glibc-2.3.1-1?:
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of dosemu:
dosemu depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.1-1); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.2.5-6.

It looks like you are trying to install the testing version of
locales. Since you have a woody installation, check your
/etc/apt/sources.list

The Sun JDK1.3 is broken in sid now, since Sun used an internal glibc
symbol that they shouldn't have. I think someone has told me that
blackdown has released a fixed 1.3 release, otherwise you'll have to use
the 1.4 and complain to Sun :)

Hello list,
Is it possible to rebuild the gcc and glibc in woody with some optimized gcc
argument? I've noticed that gentoo has a /etc/make.conf in which I can defile
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O3 -pipe"
is it possible for debian woody to do so to
Hi
I have 2 computers with woody installed
When I run dselect/install I get the following
First computer has locales ver. 2.2.5-11.2 (no problem)
Second computer has also locales-2.2.5-11.2 which has dependency
problems with glibc-2.2.5-11.2 apparently not found on this computer
(and of course

load native library: /usr/local/java/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so:

Woah. Downgrading to older glibc would have been to difficult because of
the dependencies, and yes, I do need version 1.3 of Java to use PSE Pro
I need a version of glibc that uses the GS segment register to access
pthread-local storage*. I've neither been able to find one for debian nor is it
obvious to me from looking through the sources how to compile it to use %gs.
Any suggestions welcomed.
I currently have kernel 2.4.18,

You should really do a full upgrade through 2.2 to 3.0 - picking out
just glibc and upgrading that is possibly doable, but risky. I doubt
