Again the keyboard went away while cutpasting. The CutPasting happens in

I experienced the same in Ubuntu 12.04 3.2.0-23 with Rage 128 Ultra

be the fact, that the xserver is not going to crash, if the firmware for
radeon gpu is not installed (after a fresh debian testing install for

and have still troubles to get it up and running (at first on i386 and now on
amd64).
then i looked at debian.packages.org and found a curious situation:
xserver-xorg-video-radeon is depending on packages, that
(dual head) and the
lastes debian-testing installed.
when it comes to modeprobe (kms) the screen goes away (but the system
runs in background).
I had the same problem with my old Thinkpad T60, adding fbcon to

yesterday. I'm using regular PS2 keyboard and after start X server
(kdm or by the startx) i have to press scroll lock after any other
key, or hit the key twice to see it on the screen.

the very same problem. I am not using radeon but nvidia module,
but it looks like the same : everytime I launch a KDE app (or QT ?),
X crash and restart. No problem so far with non KDE apps.

With xfs gone, crashes are gone
, and Squeeze's kernel has evolved a lot since
then. I use Squeeze on this eeepc since a long time without big trouble.
I have always the problem of resolution with GDM when starting with both
LVDS and output VGA screens connected, but I can then login and select
with xrandr my output VGA screen
