Sorry for the delay; I thought I sent a reply to this. One idea would
be to provide a lineage from who exec'd who, from yelp back to init.
Then you can have a pretty good guess of which package to really file
against. I'm not sure /proc carries that information however.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I can't get desktop icons in 8.04 x64
(with default of 2 workspaces) to stick in a certain position between
logins. My 4 NTFS drive icons (auto-mounted) are lined up horizontally
in bottom right hand corner on logout. Next login, 2 of them have moved
to upper fight

problem in my testing of it. If you have that problem you could see if

I am experiencing the same, or very similar, problems and I can confirm that:

produces slow playback as well.

well, it's funny, there are no crashes while running the log command, I had
some problems unchecking the the box (gconf-editor » apps » metacity » general
» compositing manager) but after closing the terminal I could enable and
disable with no problem.

I think I have found a way to cure this problem. I went to
"Edit->Preferences->Calendar and Tasks", select Alarm tab. There I
unchecked the Birthday & Anniveraries because I have no data in there.
After that, the problem disappeared. If any one can confirm this, it

rather than an ubuntu one, the package is correctly available on the
ubuntu server

By "Access" I of course mean all permissions (read/write/delete/create
directory/remove directory/etc). All users are in the end just me, but
I'm not sure if proftpd (gproftpd) uses a second user account or not.
I'm sharing my /home/ directory on MY FTP account and
/home//ftp on OTHER FTP accounts
