I am sorry there was no update on this front for quite some time, I had

After today’s Jaunty gtk+2.0 2.14.5-1ubuntu2 -> 2.15.0-0ubuntu1 upgrade,
gnome-screensaver can no longer unlock the screen. When I enter the
correct password, gnome-screensaver-dialog just sits there displaying
“Checking...”. top shows
Hmmm, I just got hit by this whilst trying to fix ntfs-3g mounting in
Jaunty. I'm pretty sure it's not a Nautilus bug, but I'm not sure if it
is in gvfs or glib. The actual error comes from gvfs, and I think Tormod
is probably right about this being a race condition.

I suspect that this is the correct package, based on the log report
containing "libgnome-window-settings1 1:2.24.0.1-0ubuntu7.1" which I
believe to be relevant to this bug.
Note that this is pure, unmitigated guess-work. If you know better,
feel free to change.

I'm running Intrepid, and like zcrar70 did not have the problem under
Hardy.
I've found if I close the first dialog box twice, and the Ctl-C the
command-line, the next time I try it it works fine. Weird.

That's the best I can describe the problem. If I click play, the button
goes down like it's playing, but the scroller doesn't move - it stays at
00:00 - and I hear no sound, clicking Previous/Next also doesn't change
the song.
