don't know what 'custom application launchers are', but my gnome panel
does freeze every time I start up. The main symptom I see is that the
clock stops at whatever the time was when I logged in, but also, the
network activity
I had the same problem on Compaq Evo Laptop (has no floppy and no option
to disable)
I've got it working now so if you have the floppy issue do the following:
- comment out (put # in front) the floppy line in /etc/fstab
- blacklist the floppy module > add a line to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf:
Additional information: It also did not respond to any keyboard input -
except Ctrl+Alt+Del - when it happen.

problem with the cups apparmor profile. I'm not sure what issue Joachim
Beckers is having as his log is not showing a profile issue. I'm also

This list is gonna get pretty long if we start listing out every single

of them don't follow it. And will the Ubuntu developers now have to
keep adding in the "follow the clipboard specification" fix every time

Looks like the pkill gnome-panel by itself only fixed the problem
indefinitely for the build account. The subsequent user account which I
created breaks with every reboot (or logout/login). I tested making the
other user account a priv'd account, but this made no difference.

I was finally able to get this working.
The instructions given in #12 are half of the fix. Once you have the
icon put in the right place, you need to update the icon cache for the
changes to actually take effect. I accomplished that with the following
command:
sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/s
