What happenden to me was that NUMLOCK was turned on (!!!) the pro

The solution to my problems with usb-creator was to use a combination of
the above:
1) Formatting the USB drive with Gparted made the drive usable by usb-
creator (as sdb1)
2) Moving the image to my home directory made the file readable by usb-
creator (I also had a folder with utf-8 characters)

What does one have to do to shut gdm up for good? This is ridiculous.
It's also a violation of the Debian Policy, and unless Ubuntu has
changed that part, of Ubuntu Policy.

I can reproduce this using Pedro's instructions. Originally I had two
plugins enabled (which surprised me), one for BBC, one for Youtube. With
just Youtube, I don't get the bug. With just BBC I do, so I assume the

My desktop machine has no way of playing audio. The motherboard does
have an integrated soundcard, but nothing is attached to it. (The PC
speaker is also physically disconnected.) GNOME's panel (notification
area) has an applet for controlling
gnome-keyring-daemon does not export SSH_AUTH_SOCK here at all. I
already disabled ssh-agent in Xsession.options and after that also
disabled it in xinitrc, which was trying to start it as well. After
that, when there was no ssh-agent interfering with gnome-keyring-daemon,
SSH_AUTH_SOCK was not set
We still need to wait for changes to gvfs to get this bug fixed.

4. I resize the window and move it to another location.

I'll add a belated note that "crash" does not necessarily mean "core
dump" or any other reason that would actually result in a crash file in
/var/crash. It is a generic word for "software broke".

I can confirm the original bug as far up as Intrepid. I use a work-
around of opening the Typing Break preferences and turning off then back
on. This resets the timer. However, Typing Break itself ought to keep a
real-world timer check and reset based on real-world time as well. It's
