I have run the gnome-settings-daemon in a terminal with --debug --no-
daemon, but it only ever crashes during startup so I doubt it will help
much.
So, I have edited the command-line for the GNOME Settings Daemon in
Startup Applications and added --debug there. Hopefully next time it
fails to
This happens to me too. Unfortunately it's not predictable - it only
happens occasionally. I will try to add details when it happens to me
again.

I have a similar problem, but it doesn't occur every time.
I have two screens - laptop at 1600x1024 and external at 1600x1200.
Often at startup, both of my panels which are on the laptop screen end
up on the external screen instead. Sometimes I restart X and they load
correctly.
I also noticed

keep watch for any suggested solutions.
