To try and reproduce this bug I went into nsswitch.conf and see which
line caused this and by editing the line to:

After restart and after I logged in, the screen was just black. So i had to go
into the file and edit that out - restart and the syst

Uhhh, sorry, I don't think this bug belongs in 'light-themes'. I am
using Ambiance (Default) - Although switching themes when the problem
occurs (Radiance, High Contrast) does nothing IE the icon remains
missing until reboot.

Confirmed by me too.
This is one of the simple things that are essential to most of the
people. Instead of taking the time to make a distribution usable and
then adding the candy, the focus seems to be on the candy and the core
features are not given the appropriate attention.

I found this bug while searching about this file.
I had 24 GB of free space in /home until suddenly I was warned that I only have
<1GB left!
I am currently making a copy of the file on an external disk (if needed
by you?) and afterwards I'll delete the one in my home.
