Without killing mysqld, I'd have two mysqld processes running, which

I have a laptop with an external monitor connected. When the monitor is
connected, I only use the external monitor. Usually, when I unplug the
monitor, the screen switches automatically, i.e. the builtin screen
turns on; when I replug the external monitor, the builtin screen

about splash screen issue i should note that the same problem appears in
IntelliJ IDEA, however it sometimes shows with unneeded title bar
instead of the garbage, which i think is the root of the problem. same
Eclipse and IDEA installations worked fine in 13.04, so i guess it's

The crackling is starting to happen in Google Chromium, i think there
was an update and alot of youtube videos are crackling. Tried switching
to HTML5 and no luck.
In Firefox, the same videos crackle much less, I guess I'll have to
switch to firefox.

Ok the problem was is Youtube was forcing me onto HTML5 videos. I downloaded
an extension to force flash videos, problem is fixed in respect to youtube.
So Flash in Chromium = sound is perfect
HTML5 in Chromium = sound crackling/static
Just checked back google chrome (version 31), Youtube
To be honest, this bug makes it difficult to use ibus in Ubuntu. It's
possible to work around the problem by avoiding typing near the bottom
of the screen, but there are some situations where this is difficult to
avoid.

Daniel, none of the solutions from that page worked for me. The only way
to use my sound in 13.10 was to remove PulseAudio and use Alsa.
