on the right monitor of workspace 1. If I click on a link in an
application (say an IM chat window) that's on a different workspace, a
new tab will open in Chrome but the whole Chrome
gnome-terminal stores the scrollback content in a temporary file, opened
at the standard location which is /tmp by default, overridable with the
standard TMPDIR environment variable
this default/standard location /tmp is certainly inadmissible, since it's
an obvious welcome hackers breach.

Confirming this for my Trusty with a slight difference in the behavior:
When moving URLs the URL is copied and produces a local HTML file. If I
hold CAPS a error message appears, if I hold CTR + CAPS nothing

Had the problem with Ubuntu 14.04 and 3.11 kernel version.
After kernel update to kernel version 3.13 the frontpanel output and the
Mikrophone work fine.
