Since then upgraded my Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 and the issue is definitely gone.
Thanks to all posters that gave hints helping to solve the issue and many more

suggested, then re-enabled Libre Office's PPA, then reinstalled as you
suggested. But to no avail. Libre Office still immediately crashed
whenever I try to create a new or open either a Writer document or a
Calc spreadsheet.
