For that matter, people whom I've urged to try OOo have asked me what
"JRE" means.

this information, I could contact the right people for each story I was

utable media outlet, it's also a waste of time to write a
story that's really a hidden news release. At Newsforge, for example, I
believe that such submissions automatically get bounced. At best, they
get put into the NewsVac column.

I doubt my editors would, either.
For these reasons, I think that both OOo and I would be better served if
I kept my help to an advisory role.

OOo had a good start about 15 months ago when Robin Miller from the OSTG
group (Newsforge, Slashdot) gave an IRC seminar in how to write an
effective news release. Unfortunately, nobody in OOo seems
that about 50 people
decide what software to use based on his recommendations. He said that
he couldn't recommend OOo with Java, so that's a bunch of new users lost.

e success, but not, so far, total success.
And, of course, until the final version is out, the group doing the work
(who seem largely Red Hat employees) may still have to make adjustments
once they succeed.
Still, it does seem the way to go.

My review for version 2.0 on Newsforge has been Slashdotted. There's a
few questions and misconceptions flying in the comments, so if anyone
has any time, they might want to answer them.

BTW, the font editor I mentioned used to called pfaedit. It's now

As a replacement for Frutiger, what about Bitstream Vera Sans? It is
very close to Frutiger in design, although the letters are somewhat wider.
