Yeh, and let's not forget the "air heads" who also think that CW was
what they continually describe as a "LID filter." I've been licensed
50-Plus years and I can assure you the CW requirement did nothing
to keep out the current flock of resident sociopaths and tree climbers
that can be found here
Read the rest of the ARRL announcement. The FCC will make the freqs
from 3585 -3600 Khz available for automatic stations.

Changes in US regulations are normally effective 30 days after they
are published in the Federal Register. For example, the omnibus
changes were announced in October, but not published in t
I don't remember the FCC ever before issuing a news release

along with it. Maybe the administrative help took off early

I thought the convention was 30 days to effectivity after the

methodology the FCC usually uses to announce a R&O. Unless I am daft

No, not today. The R&O has not issued, just the press relrease. See
the ARRL home page where it says it is not clear what the effective date
will be.

So much for CW as a LID filter.
Sigh.

Bob,
Oh, don't be such a pessimist and a cynic!
My daughter is a genius who is studying for her Tech.
She calls me once a week for help with a study question.
Just because you think this radio stuff is simple, doesn't mean
all semi-tractor trailer drives will think it is a snap, too (HI).

Welcome to the group! I'll echo the other responses to say give it a shot

Absolutely Joe. I actually think that a test in digital mode applications
has more relevance that CW, although I am not advocating one.
