I thoroughly agree with you Tony. It becomes a chore when one cannot recognise
a signals footprint and then has to click through all the digital modes. THEN
the wretched transmission ends before success is achieved. :-)

What are the chosen QRGs? I don't seem able to find them anywhere. I am
already running JT65-HF and would like to give this new diggie a try.

Problem is that it won't run with VISTA :-(

Rudy,
I pressed the SEND button too soonfrom the list you kindly posted
will this cable SLCAB8R ...be the correct one for the connection
from the Signalink to the Yaesus 8 pin mike socket?

Does anyone use the FT 690 for 50Mhz digital? Especially with the Signalink.
If so I'd like to know the equipment number of the connecting serial cable
which attaches both these units.

You can make skeds and chat here with people who are actually using JT65:-

Well, Russel. you said
We are all txing and rxing on 14.0760!
I've only 10 - 29 watts to a 30 feet end-fed at 10 feet and plenty of contacts.

I don't think you've solved the problem because Ailink Express uses USB as do
most digital modes.

You select the sound card you want to use after you click on Station Setup
which is at the bottom left of the JT65 screen.
Welcome to JT65-HF

Thank you for the information, Steiner. Glad the QRM QSYed. Also during that
weekend contest, it was impossible to use JT65 anywhere near to 14.0780 !

I see that these at least,
14075.3
14075.9
are also used by JT65-HF and JT8. I haven't checked the others in you list.

I agree entirely with getting Signalink first and running Airlink Express. I
had no idea about digital and these allowed me to find my way around the new
modes. Also Alex of Airlink really helped me when I thought I had a problem...
I hadn'tit was my silly fault :-)

Hi Andy,
I am a regular user of JT65-HF and we don't operate on that frequency. The
nearest we would get is 7039. Our sigs sound like a slow OLIVIA.

There is some discussion about the viability of ROS, as it appeasr to take up
the same bandwidth as an SSB signal, thus defeating the reason to use digital.

An example of "too wide" will be too much audio (mike gain)drive on an SSB
signal. This results in "splatter" over other signals which are near. The same
in PSK, but here you can see the splatter as a wide signal.
