Guys let's not start yet another rant on bandwidth.
All Bonnie was pointing out was that there is no
limit on DV at this time.
I really don't think anyone would run anything wider
that a SSB signal anyway.

Most hams want to do the right thing when it comes to operating on our
very limited frequencies. That means keeping our signals as narrow as we
possibly can to reduce interference to others. The FCC rules state that
we should operate with good amateur practices and have also said that

Hi Rick,

I was able to listen for a little bit when several stations were running
WinDRM tests in the past week, especially Jason, N1SU, and another
station who I heard fairly well on DV, but K0PFX was only copyable when
on analog SSB since he was too weak to decode.

That URL was added to the WinDRM (http://n1su.com/windrm/) download

Would have to rewire, as all jacks on the Audigy card are in use.
Would have to unplug something to plug in an external mic, which I don't
have, any way hi! The USB headset is what I used when talking to you on
Skype. It has good tone and level for this.
I believe I had the mixer setting
Why do you need to 'rewire' the back of the PC to use just one
soundcard ? DO you have the "mixer settings" within Windrm set for
the correct source?

Well, just finished testing and adjusting, and admit to being more
confused than before. If I select just one of the soundcards, I can

simply refuses to work. I went through the quick-start guide repeatedly,

It has not been easy for me using the same interface for other sound

With two cards, I used my best card (an Audigy 2) to receive,
and the AC-97 to transmit.

I'll give that a try when I get home tonight. It was working with only
one sound card when you & I tried to hook up, but haven't been able to
get "fire" using two. I'll also check out the "quick start up" that

FYI.
A new "Quick Setup" document is now available. This is a simplified,
step by step 3 page document to help the new user get on the air with
WinDRM as quick as possible. Emphasis was given on the set up of
both single and dual sound cards to help avoid confusion that some
users may have
-Yes, it works fine . I actually use the same preset in the device
router that I use for Logger32. I have port 5 for rig control and
port 7 for PTT. Since Windrm does not provide rig control beyond
PTT, the use of port 5 is not needed. I just have WinDRM set for
port 7 as PTT.

I'm monitoring 14.236 for the past 15 minutes, hearing DV fade in and
out here in Los Angeles.
Try the new DV chat room, I was up until 4AM getting it to go.

Al Chandler, K6RFK used to be prominently displayed in some of AEA's
advertisements at the peak of their success. He was one of the engineers
who I believe was instrumental in the development of the PK-232 and
perhaps some of the other interfaces in the CP series. I have had the

Sorry Rick, I have never used WinDRM. Mainly due to the fact that I do
not use Windows as an OS platform. Also, it draws less power than

It seems to me that external hardware would become obsolete if worked
about as well as the free sound card product.
This is not unlike the situation that has occured with hardware mo

Problem solved!!
I did a loopback test with WinDRM, running two rigs and two computers. It
turns out that it was the 3.5mm MONO jack that connects the sound card audio
output to the rig.
I switched to a stereo jack and the noise vanished! It took a few hours to
find, but the hiss is now

I guess 7296 was the wrong place to listen, no wonder I heard no one!

anyone is interested. I am on 7296 but may occasionally check 14236. 40M

I didn't hear any signals last night either. After I wrote that

for WinDRM. It will take a few minutes to set up another USB sound
card for EchoLink tonight.

I also did not hear any digital signals up at 7.296 USB. I did transmit
some test signals as it appears you can send a text message and also if
you are able to copy and lock on a transmitting station, you can see
their call sign and other parameters.
