Thanks for all the responses, I'm digging this one:
http://widowmaker.kiev.ua/checkbox/ - ideally I want this to be
workable for screenreaders, but I think the application is too complex
for the company to build an accessible version - it would cost $$$.

Perhaps I'm missing something. Isn't the classic pattern for a
toggle the checkbox? I've found from my own testing that users often
get confused if the wording is not clear enough to a checkbox.
If you want a push-button type thing with a light, it could work for
vision-impaired users by having a

Hi Alan
Thanks for responding. My issue with a checkbox is that conventionally
the response to the user's action isn't instantaneous (though it is
possible with js) - normally a checkbox is followed by a submit button
to action the user's input. I'm after more of a live on/off switch,
which is
Josh is spot on. One of the most important reasons I think FB uses the
frames is to reduce bounce rate and increase visitor loyalty. This
is an old technique that has been used since...I would say the very
beginning.
The code could look like anything (javascript most likely, but I've

3. How do people feel about these headers? Are they helpful or intrusive?
Some people feel VERY strongly that this technique fundamentally rots the
web by introducing new and bad URLs for content. There was a big row about
this technique this spring. Gruber led the charge, but its worth poking
Plus those bars could easily add script so when a user browses around,
the bar gets the new Url and sends it back to their HQ. I can see some
browser-habit spying in this kind of instance.
But like Joshua said, these have the owner value (not user value)
in mind.
And I agree.

This was really neat. Thanks for sharing. I esp. liked the link from one of

prettier.
Would be very interested to know if it would somehow be able to generate
more secure passwords as more aesthetically pleasing, thus manipulating

Does anyone else have ideas on how to make that accessible for

Maybe having the color letter in the color itself? Say yellow, red,
green you could just have a Y R G in the colour itself. Otherwise I

Welcome to the Interaction Design
All,
Today I started making a list of the UX/usability folks on Twitter.
The list is here: http://bit.ly/UXTweeps
If you're not on it and you'd like to be, or if you're on it and you'd like
to be removed, please let me know. Or if you know someone I've missed.

I think that's at least partly because too many designs mix up the affordances,
