I came to IxDA through a link in a recent post by Dries Buyaert, one
of a few people I follow on twitter. I really Iike the design of your
site so I joined the community immediately.
Drupal as a backend helps designers focus on issues at the system
level without worrying too much about underlying
Great news! Are there any planned features for local groups support?

just wanted to confirm that UX/Usability are a priority for the next release
of Drupal (Drupal7) - and that I'm working (with Mark Boulton) on a project
to make it a lot more friendly to non-developers.
I was very happy/excited to hear that the IxDA have chosen Drupal :) As
others have mentioned,
Hi IxDA members,
I have posted the IxDA Conan release plan document on our Board Blog.
This explains our decision-making some more, and also presents the
design targets for the first releases of our new infrastructure. See

I've been using Drupal for 5 years but only joined IxDA a few weeks
ago (hoping to learn a bit more about interaction design). I was
delighted but slightly surprised by this announcement because Drupal
has such a bad reputation for usability* - but as Dave and Nasir
said, Drupal is a platform and
I'm actually glad to hear you chose Drupal, as I just made the same
decision for our local UPA chapter's new website. It's nice to see
I wasn't crazy :)
@Adrian - As a complete Drupal novice, I've found it to be powerful,
poorly organized, and overly complicated. The power is what made me
I went through a lot of testing to choose Joomla, and of course I've
second-guessed myself many times, so I'd love to hear the reasoning.
Currently the IXDA site doesn't have a lot of functionality, and it
seems that Drupal is very good at doing one thing really well when

the platform from the ground up. We needed a platform and Drupal is
that with one of the largest developer communities out there today.
I'm not sure where you get the doing one thing part of Drupal.

We've done an extensive analysis of the major community-based
environments out there, and Drupal was our clear top choice. As Dave
said, Drupal has a strong developer community and out of the box
covers a majority of our requirements. Additionally, we can fill in
the gaps with custom modules and a

Thanx Nasir for posting your response.

Um, yeah, there's an IxDA Board blog since a couple months ago.
Didn't you notice the little Board Blog link on the About page?
;)
So, right. We need entirely new infrastructure upon which to build
IxDA.org. :) It has been a long time coming now, and we're excited
to be joining the 21st century.
There's an About page? :-)

Hi folks,
I want to share the news that our IxDA infrastructure initiative has
selected Drupal to provide the technical platform for our website
redesign project.
For more on this decision, please see:

I used both Drupal and Joomla and decided that Joomla is ten folds
better. I'm just curious why Drupal over Joomla?
