One other thing (non-Firewall related) to check is that you don't have any of the Security settings enabled in the Slimserver web interface. Server Settings / Security / Incoming Connections set to Do Not Block. This caught me out once on reinstalling slimserver and setting up a new PC. --

I point my player to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000/stream.mp3 It says connecting...buffering...and then playing, but there is no sound. It also says "Welcome to SlimServer". ...which means you can correctly connect to your server. Good. Maybe you missed the obvious: did you add some songs to the player
