SB is the way to go (you are at the SD forum, what do you expect! =) ).
PC is noisy (literally and interference wise). I HAD a PC with a M Audio
card. I have not used the PC since I got the SB3.

Well I don't know whyt it crashes the server (any more info like a log
file or error message?) but the service seems to be doing it's best to
avoid being used. I've dug through the various levels of redirection
and ended up with something which works for some clients (wmp, winamp)

Just installed 6.3.1 on Server 2003.
Now music seems to cut out more that before with the previous version
install (6.2.3 - I think).
I notice the dead air espically when I have locked the concole.
While I am logged on slim.exe has the highest CPUs.
The exe is running as the Local SYSTEM account

Just be careful, using the lowest volume setting to begin with.
Ideally, for best fidelity, you want the SB volume setting to end up in
the 35-40 range. If you need to attenuate the RCA output, you can use

Let's get a few things straight here.
This is not the official support channel for Squeezeboxes. That is very
clearly support at slimdevices dot com.
They're paid for it, they have the best data about what routers work
with what, etc. They're authorized to handle returns for defective
units, etc

different things. I currently have a Harmon Kardon 3820 2 channel
receiver that I am using as a pre-amp for an ATI 1502 stereo
amplifier.

As far as I can tell, I can't adjust the delay. I can create a macro to
repetitively send a Play command, but the smallest time interval is 0.1
sec.

Yes I have, but it's still humungously slow...probabably because I have
existing playlists that reference large amounts of my existing music

If you install the SoftSqueeze software, it will act like a software
virtual Squeezebox, which should allow you to use SlimServer to play

I use a Home Theater Master MX800 with an SB2. I'm running MusicIP as a
service with Slim. As far as I know, the way to create a mix on the SB2
is to press and hold the Play button on the remote. This works great

As the 802.11n standard isn't even ratified yet, I find it a bit
premature to buy one now!
Getting a pre-N /MIMO router should help you though; Even standard
802.11g network cards get a better signal rate when connecting to it.

OK; I've tried it. I downloaded the beta version 1.5.1 (because it
reportedly added support for BBC and I rely on that as well).

a new IE instance. Its a real pain if you're browsing something in IE
and having it overwritten when launching slimserver

I have found that I can use these devices reliably on a Power Block
providing the Power Block lead is short, no more than a metre, and the
Power Block has no mains filtering devices.
I do get the odd occasions when I get a period of dropouts which I
suspect is due to local mains borne interferenc
