After playing with it a bit more, it seems to be this URL that is
causing the server to shutdown. Also, it turns out that the SlimServer
Windows service doesn't actually stop (SlimServer justs stopped
responding and devices can no longer contact it), so the auto-recovery

Well, I did download the latest nightly that was available at that time.
I guess you were referring to the Aug 23 nightly which hadn't been

Anyway, I grabbed the Aug 24 nightly and this seems to fix the problem.

Thanks, smc!
I clearly need to look into plug-ins more before I waste my time
writing stupid little standalone scripts.
I'm happy to say that the script works as intended, though. (Although,
admittedly, error checking and -handling is non-existent.)

I installed my slimplayer in the bathroom and put all the wiring into
the wall and in the attic space for the ceiling speakers.
I created a template here, which may help or not :)

I'm planning to extend my music netowrk into my bathroom, and want to use a

Well, I'm glad you posted about this as I have experienced the very same

Hi folks
I've just successfully set up my SlimServer for access over the
internet, and I'm now happily listening to my entire collection at
work, or wherever I decide I feel like listening to it. And this forum
has been a WEALTH of information, so thank you to everyone who helped

Thanks for your answers. It's Sweden for me, I will search around in the

The specs are for the original Squeezebox, the SB1.
If Gian had an SB3, no, it's obviously not possible (no external
antenna at all).
However Gian has an SB2, identical in form factor to the SB1. Yes, you
can replace the external antenna - I believe it's a "reverse SMA"
connection so you can us

SS doesn't need much Internet bandwidth - if you're playing files off
your own HDD, none at all, and if you're playing Internet radio, around
128 kbps. It does need LAN/WLAN bandwidth. Theoretically, t
I've run SB3s over homeplug 1.0, the 14mb version.
Real experience is about half the 14.
Yeah, you do have to worry about phases a bit, which is a pain if you

I'm not sure about your first 2 questions, but for the latter 2:
- You're not limited to pairs. Each one is just another ethernet jack
on your LAN, just like the 4 ports on your router.
- It sounds like a switch is all you need. You don't need to physically
move the printer, you can plug it (or

thank you for taking the time to help me with this.

Initial problem with factory setting was that I kept coming back to

as described more in depth in post
