I have recently changed my setup from a flakey old pc to a Mac mini with all my music stored on an external HDD through firewire.Computer is in the spare bedroom wired over LAN to the squeezebox in the living room When I am not running slimserver in the background the HDD stays quiet as a mouse.

Some times the MAC address can change. If you use MAC filtering on your wireless network you better check this first. hold the left button for a while - go to current settings - MAC address. Check if it's the same as writen on the bottom of your squeezebox. I hope this helps... -- Amauta

Actually, deleting the cache (ie everything uder server\Cache) did not help. I just tried again, and this time, even though I had not bothered to upgrade the firmware, when I backed out to 6.5.0, as soon as the SB3 tried to connect SS crashed. I again had to a complete uninstall and re-install of

When you put SB on standby the energy settings of your mac should kick in, computer sleep at xxx minutes, display sleep at xxx minutes and HD sleep at xxx minutes. I use an external Maxtor usb2 drive that detects when no data is being transfered and powers down accordingly. I also have an old Laci
