I have two Squeezebox v3 (~18 months old). Until last Sunday I was using
the Slimserver v6.2.1 and everything was fine. I've then decided to
install the Softsqueeze 3.3 which made me upgrade to the slimserver to
v6.5.2.(or at least I thought I did but I ended up apparently with
6.5.1)
Since then
I always had good luck with TDK until my last stack, which had maybe a
30% failure rate until I dropped my record speed from 52X to 32X.
(Using my pride-and-joy Plextor Premium, arguably the best consumer
CD-R drive ever produced. Unfortunately long out of production.)

didn't help. I un-did the restore and tried a bunch of stuff in that
other Vista thread just trying to get music to play again. Finally got
it working, but it will no longer accept the drive letter for my WD

To cut down on the amount of energy I'm burning on useless things, I'd
like my PC to enter Standby mode after a period of time. Within
seconds of going into Standby, however, my "powered-off" Squeezeboxes
wake it right back up again. If I unplug the Squeezeboxes from the
network, the PC stays on

I've started using softsqueeze on my work laptop (I also have a slimp3
and squeezebox at home), and I've found that when it loses its
connection to the server my playlist is stopped and reshuffled. This is
a common problem for me since the client is on a laptop. I'm guessing

I think I nailed the basic problem the Sonic Wall had a "content
filtering" security service enabled and was snooping the packets coming
out of the client. When I pressed "play" the client initiates a tcp
connection to the server on port 9000 and sends the request "GET
/stream.mp3". The sonic

My server has stopped working. I've uninstalled and cleaned up and
installed 6.5.1 with same results. Exactly the same procedure on
another machine does NOT fail. I need ideas about what to look for.
A symptom is that if I try to add something to the current (empty)
playlist using the Web UI,
The RAM might be the kicker.
Is there a lot of disk thrashing when SS generates a page? I'm guessing
your system is having to page quite a lot. XP will probably be paging
SQL, which is a really bad thing.

If Airfoil is the kind of solution you are looking for, then probably
Rogue Amoeba's other program Nicecast is exactly what you need.
You can always try it out. Before paying it just degrades the stream
after a few minutes, but that is enough to get the feel for it.

Lots has been written about opening 9000 & 3483 on the server-side
firewall, but I have hit an issue i believe concerns the client-side
firewall. My topography looks like this:
SB <-> client_side_fw <-> (WAN) <-> server_side_fw <-> SS

Those Cambridge PC speakers that were recommended to you do not have RCA
inputs, just a stereo minijack input like what you would use with a
computer. Also, Slimserver will not run if your PC hibernates.

which are empty. When I've rebuilt my music server it will point to a

Suddenly, my scan has failed. Actually, i don't know how suddenly since

Just upgraded to OSX 10.4.9 and something weird is happening. All my ACC
encoded (unencrypted) files produce nothing but static. I tried playing
the files through SB3 and SoftSqueeze and all I get is static. The same
files worked before the upgrade. The files sound fine if I play them

I just upgraded to 10.4.9, and almost the first thing I did was try the
Squeezebox. It would not connect.
I then used Airport Admin Utility, and found my Airport stations were
not recognised, even

almost no problems, except for now.
Using my SB3 to play MP3 albums from slimserver wirelessly, results in
each track being played twice in succession. Opening up slimserver in
my browser, I can see that each track is feature

not waiting long enough for slimserver to start after a server reboot.
When I tried to start the slimserver manually (and it was already in
