day or so by unplugging and replugging the power plug.

No it is not Typical to have to rest or unplug a squeeze
I was wondering the same thing myself. Whether it was the hardware or
the software that was the rate limiting factor.

IIRC it was in the region of 5W idle and slightly more while playing. On
and off are the same but when actually playing there's more cpu
activity, more screen activity and the audio stage is taking more
power. Not much of a difference, but just about noticable.

with latest firmwares and SC7 they're basically 100% stable. I've never
had to do a hold 1 reset, although a while ago (couple of years) there
was a period where factory resets were needed pretty frequently.

Frank, I had an older version of your script and it worked perfectly. I
downloaded your latest version yesterday and for about a half of my 800
albums it doubles all of the song titles - i.e., each song is repeated
twice in a row. The rest look perfect.

I just picked up a Squeezebox last week. I really like it and I think
it's a cool idea. I had it already programmed on my Harmony 1000 a few
weeks prior to getting it. It all worked well, except for the needing
to change what controlled the volume.
I have it running
Fairly often I (and some other people) have to press and hold the power
button to get a connection after the computer wakes from sleep.
But this isn't an actual reset.

Close to a year with my SB3. Never had a hardware issue

way it was before you tried to modify it on Sunday. Been a while since
I was on the Harmony Forum but you used to be able to get your config

I have an idea for a plugin that would actually involve playing some
sounds without actually playing a track.
My idea is for a grandfather clock plugin that would always emit (for
lack of a better word) the tick-tock sound and would also play chimes
every 15/30/60 minutes and would also count

play stuff that is in the database and in the current playlist. So I
suppose this means that you will need to go through the standard
play/add code.

Do you have static IPs for each of the SBs, or does your router dole
them out each time via DCHP? Could be an ip conflict with an existing
bit of equipment - would certainly explain why a router reboot sorts it
out, but not an SB reboot.
I would try allocating a static IP to the troublesome SB
In the meantime, any ideas as to why power cycling the SB3, or going
through network setup, does not get it to reconnect to SlimServer,
while power cycling the router does?

That's basically the same thing. The date they were added to your WHS is
the date they were copied which is also the date on which they were
created.
What I can't remember is whether the date last accessed changes in a

You could possibly use the Heartbeat sound embedded in SC7 to do the
tick-tock sound. As for the chime sound and then maybe use the wind
chimes sound again from the embedded sounds as the 15/30/45/60 chimes
just running them longer each time

No, you don't need to change the slimserver at all to add remove
squeezeboxes. This is because it's designed to have more than one
attached. All you need to do is setup the new squeezebox, tell it
where your server is and you're done.

if you're showing a player with a 127.0.0.1 address, it probably means
you were running softsqueeze on teh same machine as your server. You
can tell it to forget each existing player individually and then set up
your new hardware player and you'll be good to go.

Yet another clue: When the SB3 fails as described and cannot connect to
SlimServer, if I go into SS with the web UI I see that SS thinks that
the SB3 is still connected. I can even start/stop/control the music
selection in SS, although obviously nothing really plays.

Up until *very* recently it was possible to order Squeezeboxes (etc)
from the SlimDevices website and effectively get the US price
(converted at the current AUD/USD exchange rate). That option seems to
have disappeared (I assume deliberately) and it looks like the only way
to order the Duet is
