I'll also chime in that I much prefer SqueezeCenter. It's significantly
faster for me. SlimServer always left me with an unpolished feel to it
-- certain things just never seemed to always work the way I expected.
Thus far, SC has been flawless.

Don't know why it worked for me but uninstalling it 1st seemed to solve
it. I made sure to delete the slimserver and squeezecenter directories
before installing it. I also installed the latest nightly update and
that seemed to work.

This is just a speculation on my part, but based on the descriptions
above, perhaps the culprit is mysql ?
It has a slow query log that can be enabled by using the
--log-slow-queries option

To help with processor load, you could turn off ALAC to FLAC transcoding
and just stream WAV, that would leave a lot more head room for running
SqueezeSlave or SoftSqueeze.

You don't need to use the bridging function for this.
All control is done though SqueezeCenter, just open a web browser and
point it to http://imac-ip-address:9000/ and you will get the web
interface from your iMac.

Having now had the opportunity to listen to the Aego M's and A5's side
by side for a number of weeks I think that both are excellent, however,
the A5's are my preferred choice. Music seems to have more presence when
played back using the latter.

I've been running a SB2 in my bedroom wirelessly for well over a year
with no problems.
Last night there was the mother of all storms here in the south of the
UK and now I can't get my wireless connection to work.
Last week I upgraded to Squeeze Centre 7.0 and also
QNAP and daylight time saving is fixable, you simply need to modify the

Its a dead cert that you have some inconsistent tagging within the album
- even if you have looked with a tagger and they seem to be all the
same. If these are mp3's - you probably have ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, use
mp3tag to delete the v1's.

the SB3.
However when the player is actually playing something its totally fine,
its only when its gone idle/screensaving that it slows.

I'm running the release version of 7.0 and the default skin on a Gentoo
Linux machine. If I set the interface to hide artwork, it still leaves
one large artwork placeholder showing. I assume that

controller stops responding for a while. It then seems to catch up
to the Ts or the Us, but scrolling is erratic. It seems like it gets
lost if the the scrolling goes too far too fast. Also, I try to go

I've just updated to SqueezeCentre 7.0 can't get Last.fm scrobbling to
work again. I've removed the old plug-in I had added to 6.x, as I

Turns out it had something to do with the Custom Scan Plug-in. I had
initiated the Amazon.com Scan within the plug-in. It does state that
it is slow. Well, it started to scan and then sqzctr bombed. After
