The remote libraries concept sounds cool also from other perspectives,
if that would finally enable us to connect to friends' libraries.
Obviously most would need to resample, but for presenting new and
exciting stuff to friends that would be nice
I run it on a Sheevaplug, consumes just 3 watt. You can connect a usb
drive or mount any network share with your music files. No problems
serving 3 booms and a classic at the same time.

It won't work with SqueezeNetwork. DSBridge streams (broadcasts)
spottify over you lan from your PC. Spottify normally runs from your PC
anyway. If you don't use DSBridge you have to use the Wave Input
plugin. DSBridge generates an mp3 stream from anything that uses

I agree, earlier in the beta, the Debian/Ubuntu install was a bit rough,
but its been clean lately.

You might want to look at Windows: Prevent Standby plugin. The reason
it is for windows is that it uses the Win32::API with the kernel32
command. If you change this command in the Plugin.pm file in the

The web switch generally also requires that you not use
username/password protection, so the "pulling" SC instance can issue CLI
commands to the SC instance currently serving the player in question.

The battery is an accessory you have to buy separately. It also comes
with a remote, which I think is the smaller Boom remote.
Logitech is saying 6 hours for battery life. I got almost 11 hours on
my first charge. Take a look in the Squeezebox Radio forum for more
info.

I do like the new interface, especially in use with squeezecenter.
I think the sbc is a little more stable and don't "bounce" that much
under some menu's as it could do in the past, I like the context menu's
for info.
I like the icons a drab list of text items is not soo nice in the long
run.

Think I'll get the squeezebox radio with battery pack, that way I don't
have the problem of getting electrocuted!!! Its not clear from the
adverts whether a battery is included or not. OR how long the battery
lasts before needing a charge...

controller interface is now quite ugly and ungainly and they don't work
in the same way. The web interface is quicker though.

I am going to try the old router. If the old router works then I assume

The sonicwall has so many options compared to a normal consumer router

Yeah, that's why I suggested trying wired. If the issue persists with
wired than your issue is not likely WiFi (especially with a 97% signal
strength).
I'd suggest calling your ISP and router mfr and checking settings on
your router. Something is not right.

that 7.4 will be simpler but astep backward in capabilities and

Don't think there is any way to automate server switching. But doing so
manually is quite simple.
Just scroll to Settings > Music Source on you SB3 and select which
instance of SC you want to connect to.

Worked very well for me on ubuntu 8.10 (use the instable repository and
"apt-get squeezeboxserver" instead of "squeezecenter").
I had to migrate all plugins and prefs manually, I don't know if the
release version will do that automatically. Fact is, there are now 2
different directories on my mach
I was still using 0.92 and finally updated to 0.95. Loving the updates,
the option to switch on the wifi is great.

The ipeng app is definitely worth its money. But I realised today that
the cover art thumbnails on album level (browsing artists -> albums) are
not correct. If I go directly to ipeng themed squeezecenter via safari
then the right album cover is displayed. So at least SqueezeCenter has
the righ
If you only need the increased wifi range for that one SB, then consider
a pair of homeplug ethernet over power adapters instead. The Devolo ones
are best in my experience.
