Bought my first squeezebox (Duet) 2 years ago.
I really hated it the first 3 months because of connectivity problems,

Could anyone post some suggestions on the best way to remove the old

I wish mine did that, but instead it shows the Artist tag.
Album Artist is much preferred for genres such as classical, where one
typically uses Artist=Composer e.g. Verdi, but the Album Artist is the

Hello, apologies for coming to this discussion late, but I've had a
similar problem - and a solution (at least for me).

Unfortunately the vast majority of people couldn't care less about
gapless playback. New mp3 players are *still* coming out that don't
support gapless playback of mp3 files.
It certainly won't hurt to try to give the issue some exposure, but I
won't hold my breath.

I recall from a post that Sean made that the wireless card is held in
place by double sided sticky tape on some units. I imagine they had
issues with them becoming dislodged and causing problems and used the
tape to prevent the problem.
Here's a the thread for reference:
While doing some further digging I came across 'this thread on the
Hydrogen Audio forums'
that indicates at least some of the MP3s Amazon is selling were encoded
from lossy source material. And even worse, that at least some
That Hydrogen Audio thread worries me, if the quality varies so much it
will be harder to track down any problems and we'll need a larger
sampling of tracks.

Finally! Looks nice. A few points:
1) It would be nice if it could import Pronto definition files. Tons of
these are already available.
2) They could add the option of going straight from wifi to IR

I've had a Napster sub for nearly a year now and the bit rate has been
128kbps throughout. By chance I looked at their FAQs today and read
this,
The Napster music that is downloaded to your computer is in MP3 format
at 256 Kbps stereo. The majority of tracks that are streamed from the
Hi,
I have an established Sqeezebox classic which is working fine. I
recently bought an additional receiver to deliver music to another room,
and hopefully sync with the classic. However I can't seem to pick up the
receiver?
The instructions seem to suggest that I need a Duet as a Sqeezebox
I'll go and look at their site again, but, everything I stream is at
128kbps.
I have 'napster to go' everything I download is at 192kbps.
You can get 'napster to go' is you call and ask for it!
Off to look at their blurb!

Right I agree with your quote of what they say you'll get, but it's not
what I've experienced. like I said I get 128kbps as a stream 192kbps
as a drm wma download.
If you google info on the revamped service, most article seem to agree
that the stream is 128kbps, many make comment of this
Normally you need an SB Controller (SBC) to configure the SB Receiver
(SBR). You can't use the SB3/Classic remote control because the SBR has
no infrared remote support.
However, there is a 3rd party tool (Net::UDAP) that will allow you to
configure the SBR without an SBC. Check out this thread
Even if Napster started streaming at 192kbps, the menu would still show
128, because that value is hardcoded in there. At the time it was
implemented, that's all they had with no plans to change. If you find a
track you think is 192 let me know and I'll confirm.

I have the same problem. I can make a new playlist from a selection in
iTunes but Squeezebox Server can't seem to find it. It finds the iTunes
DJ playlist but not a custom made one.
Trying to Export playlist... from within iTunes does no good either.
Exporting gives me two options, text and XML.
i am new to this forum and glad to be a part of this. i hope that i can
learn more and share my ideas and thoughts aswell.

If I am using the SPDIF on the SB Receiver is it pure Digital? or does
