I start the squeezebox server manually (due to a problem with the NAS).
This works but the tray icon does show. Is there a way to get it to
appear?

By "hit it" i meant i can't connect the Squeezebox to SBS, and i
installed it locally and while the squeezebox said it never connected.
It did somehow get connected once just long enough to update. But since
then, it's impossible for either device to see one another.

Me too, although I also use CustomScan to import iTunes ratings into SBS
to allow me to replicate SmartList functionality with Erlands excellent
plugs ins.

I haven't seen dups since mail started flowing again from the

SqueezeCenter can create mixes with accented characters in the filename,
however it won't play them since it can't find them because of the wrong
character encoding (the error will show up in the log). Do yours
actually play?
This character encoding has been an issue with many versions of
Squeez
The sounds not brilliant but it makes a great bedside alarm clock,
considering another for the kitchen!

IMO, the SB Radio would be better suited to a bedside headphone rig as
it could double as an alarm clock (if the alarm was reliable!). I
think the same applies to most desktop situations. I do see the
argument for it to be wall mounted although there are probably better
options...

that I have the remote in my hand to make use of it. At least with the
SB Touch, I can still use it if my remote has slipped behind a sofa

One thing I do not understand with DSBridge is why it is necessary to
recompress the music through Lame to MP3. This recompressing most
likely reduces the sound quality. Would it not be possible to transfer
the sound to the receiver in Redbook CD format instead?

there is a setting in SBS to allow you to force it to proxy an internet
stream to the hardware, instead of the hardware handling it directly
(and alone). not sure where, but its in there. (it is not a web
surfing proxy, thats different and unrelated to this)
