There's no redirect from slimdevices.com (without www). You just get a
blank page. I rarely type www in front of things these days.

Some people think the title of this song is irrelevant,
but it's not irrelevant - it's a hippopotamus.
That's correct.
If you are only after playback, however, you might not have to wait
that long since there are already a few alternatives:
1. Open http://your server:9000/stream.mp3 in the Safari browser.
You can start the stream, put it in the background (yes, QuickTime can
multitask) and then
CBS are not currently allowing their stations to be received in the UK.
K Earth 101 was a great station to listen to.

I note that my request is not a one off but another strategy has been

Yep, that was my answer there as well regarding content group tag.

see this old thread where I posted instructions on converting soundcheck
to album replaygain values, including some Action files you can download
for mp3tag.

I don't have a transporter (wish I did!) so take this with a grain of
salt:
For PC listening (where I sit through most of most days) I had been
using my PC's SPDIF out to a receiver, with ralphy's excellent
squeezeslave.
Sounded pretty good through nearfield monitors.
Ralphy came out with an ASIO
For some reason, scanner.exe arbitrarily starts up and runs on its own
with no input from me. I have a large library, so this drags my (Win
XP) PC to its knees and I can't get any work done. (It also makes me
nervous to hear my hard drive pounding away with a live Internet
connection.)

My Squeezebox doesn't seem to turn on anymore, even when the server is
running. I've tried unplugging it several times, plugging it in
somewhere else, everything. Remote control doesn't seem to do anything
to it either. Any suggestions or is it now just a cool looking paper
weight?

First, are you sure the brightness isn't all the way down, so it just
looks like it's not turning on?
If that's not the case, you might try removing the wifi card inside.
It seems to be a common failure. Sometimes it can just be re-seated,
but usually it's a failed card. It's at least worth a
I'd try checking out the power supply as well. Maybe the wall wart
power device has gone bad and can be replaced.
How you would go about checking this, absent another SB3, I have no
idea.
When it is plugged in do you see a red light coming from the Optical
port on the back?

I do see a red light in the back when it's on. The unit is actually warm
when it's plugged in so I think it's getting power. One other thing,
when I go to Web Control, it doesn't show the SB playing anything even
when I try to make it play something.

With either a Boom or Radio. If you don't have WiFi then the Boom is a
great choice. If you think you may go to WiFi in the future, then the
Radio with the battery pack would give you the most flexibility.

You know, I'm all for progress. It's change I object to.

Actually I would also add a (cheap) wlan-router. Connect it to your Mac
and you have a wireless music network for the Radio/Boom mentioned
above (sharing the Macbook's wifi should work, too).

Took a while (5 hours) for foobar to scan my collection and generate the

However, inital testing suggests that it has done a good job. I do get

the screen on the left panel of my transporter does not show characters

Thanks in advance

So... lief, did you try putting a switch on either end of that long
wire? I'm assuming that's how you tested, but don't know.
If you're getting a bit of throughput, forcing the switches to use 10
rather than 100 might be all you need.
I've an extra 10baseT hub you're welcome to if you want to

Hi
I noticed that it can take quite a long time (up to several hours) for
my Rhapsody playlists to be refreshed on the squeezebox server or
mysqueezebox.com, after I make some changes through the Rhapsody
software or website.
It would be awesome if my playlists could be updated in real time when
The first time is always the longest.
If you've added a bunch of tracks to your library just scan your whole
library again and you'll see that foobar will just update the tracks
that don't have replaygain yet, so the next time will be quite quick.
Minute or two per album on my PC.
