Android support was added to portaudio in r1597 but requires ALSA to
already be installed on the device.
I don't have an android device at this time to use to implement and
test your request.

I've implemented device selection by name in 1.1-259. There's a
'windows build on google code'
for you to try.
Replace -o6 with -nSpeakers (C-Media USB Headphone Set ) to use the
name selection option.
Code:
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but how do I use my bluetooth
earpiece? When I'm driving in my car, I can't hear the speaker on my
phone. If I press the button on my bluetooth earpiece, I can hear
audio coming from SqueezePlayer for a few seconds before my android
device asks me

Hi mkanet,
how bluetooth works is totally up to your Android and your earpiece.
Here we had one user where it is working:

I think the link you pointed out to us for bluetooth stereo headsets;
which work differently than single speaker earpieces. They are
different bluetooth services; hence treated differently by the OS (this
is true under any platform that uses standard bluetooth protocol).

I have a nuvo 6 channel applifier in my media closet with ceilling
speakers in all the main rooms. I currently have been playing around
with squeezeslave, controlling it via one of the android squeeze
controller applications. The output on my server's soundcard is then

Sorry, but I can't help you on a soundcard that can sub-divide into
different zones. But I may be able to clear up a couple possible
misunderstandings on your last two points.
1) As you don't need speakers, you're correct that an SB Radio wouldn't
make sense. But an SB Touch or SB Duet Receiver
There are a few apps out there that supposedly take an audio stream
intended for bluetooth A2DP (for stereo headphones) and redirect to
mono (like a phone single-ear headset).
The only one I can remember is BTMono, but there are a number of
others.

The touch looks really nice but doesnt it have the same RCA output that
would need to go back to the amp if I wanted to use my ceiling mounted
speakers? The touch would be a perfect interface but I was wondering
it would still end up RCA'ing it back to the amp... That being said, a
Yes, you could use the Touch's RCA outputs to connect to the amp. Or use
the digital outputs if your amp has digital inputs. Either way you can
put it in the media closet, and don't need to run more cable. If you're
worried about wasting the display, then try to find a Squeezebox Duet
Receiver,
Thanks guys. I'll try that app in the meantime until there's native
support for it. I currently dock my phone in the car:

day all I had to do is press one icon to start the SB client, then

I don't know about multichannel soundcards but another option that I
have had success with is to use multiple stereo soundcards. You'll
need a case and motherboard with enough spare pci(e) slots but
half-a-dozen basic 2-channel cards could be picked up very cheaply.
Some of the more fancy 5.1
Thanks guys. I have a rooted nook color running SqueezeCommander and
I've tested it now with SqueezePlayer. Works great! These are two
excellent Android apps. Does anyone know how to rename of the
SqueezePlayer virtual device? It shows up on my SQZCommander as
LogicPD Zoom2 .
Thanks in
Hi SpeedyM,
it's not possible yet to rename the device right now. SqueezePlayer
uses the official model name of your firmware.
I'm thinking about providing an option on the settings screen but
that's not available yet.
