I dont think that the freezer trick still works on some newer drives
anymore...
That trick only works in the old days, where 160 GB drives were highend
stuff.
A drive (even if its cooled with dryice) gets hot to soon to get some
data out of it.
In the old days that wasnt a issuebut todays drives

Well, with a proper Digital Coax it is now working!! Just to be sure I
had ordered a Digital Coax *and* a 3 foot TOSlink cable at the same
time. Both cables arrived today. I had previously tried a simple RCA
cable between the SB3 and my amp connecting the digital coax termina

Sounds like a bad capacitor for the "white" output channel - fairly
common failure (at least for SB3/Classics, I assume SB2s are virtually

I could not make this up if I tried...
I have a drive that is failing. I put it in an external enclosure to try to
work out what can be recovered from it.
Running a directory listing it got as far as:
./20070715/Pink Martini and then quit...
Longtime followers will see the extreme irony in that
Oh, and they have one really annoying policy change they just told me
about today: In the past a metadata rejection meant that you only need
to fix the metadata and when you didn't have to submit a new build then
you'd go to review again within 24h. Now you have to queue up again,

Oh my, that's bad.
This is a real issue especially with Apps they can't easily test.
The number of metadata rejections due to edge case issues I've been
getting over the last year has been much bigger than in the past, too.
And actually most of those were about issues that can theoretically hit

Sounds like they are taking the literal interpretation of a browser.
Perhaps consider changing the description an not use "browser" but
instead something like "a graphical interface which provides information
residing on the internet..."

The fix is available for over a week now already. Unfortunately the
App-update is stuck in Apples review process.
Anyone want to have a laugh, then read on about how the story goes on.

Yes. Now the other speaker is powered when I swapped the red and white
RCA cables.

Success!
After fixing the line endings, all works. I can play local m4a files (as
I could before) and I can now play the "Sound Opinions" podcast stream.
Thanks bpa for the detailed help and on this.
p.s. I'm curious about the fact that my "file types" now shows "ffmpeg"
or "ffmpeg/lame" for

Yes - Wordpad on Windows can make files with Linux line endings but IIRC
it is a save option. Notepad is only useful for files intended for
WIndows only.
