The latest version of libdvdread removed a patch which is required to
successfully run the dvdbackup package in the rpmforge repository.
Can this patch be re-applied? Or, if not, shouldn't you just go ahead
and delete the dvdbackup package since this action effectively breaks
it?

Yes, actually the problem can be seen when the unit is powered on after being
unplugged and the initial boot sequence starts. Has anyone seen this?

I was playing around with the different screen savers and noticed the following.
On the elapsed time and remaining time bar there is what appears to be two
vertical lines approximately in the middle of the bar - which would seem to be
a marker showing the halfway point. However when switching to
I've notice Slimserver has changed from oggdec to sox. From what I can gather
this was done to fix an outstanding issue, which I have not experienced. I'm
not really familiar with sox but I ran across this statement in the
documentation:
"SoX can decode all types of Ogg Vorbis files, but can onl
Yes, SB1 & SB2 have firmware support for MP3 and they use the MAD BTW.
Quoting Stuart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
With all this talk of codacs in the firmware, I was wondering about
mp3's. Is this done on SB2 in the hardware? I started using MAD

should
also ask for ReplayGain support for Ogg Vorbis in firmware as well.
Should that be a separate enhancement request or should it just be
added to bug 1061?

I have submitted an enhancement request (BUG 1061). I also agree with the other
poster that it is a waste of resources. SLIMDEVICES is hoping that the extra
buffer and the bandwidth compression of FLAC will be a reasonable stopgap
measure. It definitely will be an improvement over WAV and SB1, bu
Hey, I think that is excellent. I sent in a request to SLIMDEVICES to
have OGG
added to the firmware as I mentioned in a previous post. As a side note,
I'm surprised by the negative attitude of a few people regarding the adding of
this feature. I don't use FLAC currently, don't have any plans,
Of course it is a business decision. SLIMDEVICES are smart people. They will
implement, the question is when. A few reasons:
OGG is an open format. OGG is the default for the FEDORA distribution.
MP3 was
eliminated from FEDORA due to licensing considerations. You can of course

I do not run FLAC so I am not familiar with the processor requirements. I do
know that transcoding to WAV is not insignificant; and am skeptical of the
overhead requirements for FLAC. Regardless, the bandwidth requirements for a
FLAC transmission is greater than that of ogg. I have problems now
I have opened a feature request (Bug 1061) as follows:
"Native support of OGG VORBIS format in firmware. I've read that FLAC is now
supported in Slimserver2. My friends and I have been waiting for native OGG
VORBIS support. It is a drag to have to incur the overhead and increased
bandwidth requi
