I agree, this is paranoia until it actually happens. I could live
without Squeezebox Server being updated but I'd be far more concerned
if support was withdrawn from Ipeng!

It's quite highly developed now. The only things that the Touch needs
are faster processor/more memory and something that will handle large
USB drives better than the Touch does. Tiny SBS is a rather poor piece
of work.
Boom looks very dated now. Needs a touch screen.

The 7.4.1 experience and current handset software for me has been really
good. Faster, more stable, better BBC support, better organized.

This sounds familiar. Mine (netgear DG834N) died on me a week and an
half ago and a combination of new router, deletion of the cache and a
diskclean really refreshed things with the Squeezebox experience.

I've found it a good way of pre-auditioning and ruling out CDs that I
would have bought and have been dissappointed in.
I'd give it 7/10. I still use Last.FM more. I'll probably continue
with it.

With the Iplayer plugin installed, I'm really happy with the BBC. It
seems to be a simple, very good piece of work that Logitech should be
doing.
There's the odd missing programme but very rarely. Hopefully, it will
continue to work like this.

I've had this as well only solved it by deleting the albumn and
reconverting it from CD through EAC. The albumns that were affected
were the ones that were converted in Yahoo Music Engine.
For some reason, changing the tags simply did not work.

of the Squeezebox IMO is the way it copes when
it loses connection. The UI on the Touch is years ahead of the one on
the Duet handset albeit on a much more expensive device.

pretty much equates to this. The
Ripserver is a bit expensive still though and I would like one that
allow me to fit my own drives.
The new Linn device looks interesting (though much more expensive and
allegedly with an interface that is not the friendliest).

To answer my own question (should have RTBM! It's in the appendix on
page 30), yes the receiver does auto update. The button flashes white
to let you know it's doing it.
