Thanks in advance for any help!

for all your help, without you guys the SB3 would be a
much worse product - it can be very tricky to set up!!! Fortunately I
know that once it is set up, it works a treat and is fantastic!!!

than that found in the Transporter? Or is the Transporter just an off
the shelf high end version of the SB3 with a better DAC already in
it?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

D'oh! A restart seems to have solved the problem! Turning off the auto
setup option in the router must not have taken effect until this...
Well at least it is working... for now!

Sorry, think that was a stupid question - just realised I have RSS feeds
streaming to the SB3, that probably explains it!
I'll get my coat.

Although having said that, now I have turned the RSS feeds on
screensaver option off, it is still sending something constantly. Think
the rate has decreased to about 2 or 3 kb/s, but I can't understand why
it would do this?
Is this normal behaviour?
--
mwoodroof
Thanks for the info, it is reassuring to know this is normal...

Using WEP 64 with a manually set 10 digit hex key. Think I have tried it
with WEP disabled too. Will give that another quick go...

Hmmm, OK, that is a bit odd. With WEP disabled it connects fine
downstairs.
So this is a wireless network physical location related problem with
encryption protocols?!!?!! What can I do? Can't run the network
unprotected...
--
mwoodroof
Have now tried g only, b only and bg mixed and none of them seem to
work. No time to try WPA :-(
Oh well, was nearly there, will have to look around closely at what
other routers are out there and see if I can get one on a trial period
before committing to buy it...!!!

, and that the
issue must be the wireless connection quality when the SB3 is
downstairs and want to investigate this with NetTest.
Am I looking at the right things?
As usual, thanks a lot for any help you can give!
Skunk, you out there? ;-)
--
mwoodroof
OK, that does sound promising.
I still can't really believe it will solve my problem though - bearing
in mind I also have problems with copying large files over the
network.
Only one way to find out though...
Thanks for the info and the reassurance that it is an easy upgrade!
--

Aaahh, I see. Thanks for explaining that. Might give it a go if I can
summon the courage.
This digital music malarkey certainly isn't straightforward, is it?!!

, the router had not totally hung
(like the it does with the SB3), it just seems to be Windows Networking
that has gone wrong.
Stranger and stranger.
Does this info give anyone any other ideas of what the problem might
be?

H. Thanks for the thoughts, sounds reasonable to me.
I have just emailed Belkin with details of the problem, so we will see
if they have good customer service and manage to help me out with it!

Not sure as I haven't tried myself yet, but maybe the shortcut needs to

Thanks - do you have a number or should I just use the nymber in the
contact section of this website?
Interestingly I have just tried to ping the SB3 and it did not work. I
am now wondering if it has connected to the right WLAN or not... very
confused!

have 255.255.0.0 for the subnet address and
0.0.0.0 for the gateway and dns addresses in this menu.
When I try to ping that IP address at the cmd prompt it does not work.
Can anyone tell me if it should be ping-able?!
Any ideas gratefully received!!
