Can someone, please explain what was the reason for the change? What did
you try to achieve? In my opinion the UI looks ugly and usability

I don't think there is a way for a plugin to put menus directly on the
home menu of the SBC but I haven't investigated it in detail.

Most ePCs are sold with 128MB or 256MB of RAM and, for that reason,
WinXP is not recommended, but SlimCD solves the lack of Linux skills
problem.

I was thinking about a simple solution.
First setup everything using monitor and keyboard and then disable keyboard detection in the BIOS boot settings.
I guess, for true headless, you could alsouse a console on serial port.

Yeah, I have several great looking gadgets gathering dust in my closet. They all look attractive, but have proven to be useless / boring / no longer supported / incompatible / whatever...
Squeeze Box is NOT one of them. You got the internals right first, and then, finally, got a nice case as well.
