This is a firmware & hardware difference so the SBB can act as alarm clock even if it's disconnected from SC/SN. There's even a small battery inside which will power a "backup clock" and eventually trigger alarms scheduled for the next time. AFAIR the SBB has some sound samples in the firmware for

I don't use any of my Squeezeboxen as an alarm. I don't use SqueezeNetwork. I leave all my Squeezeboxen powered up when I shut down my PC. When SqueezeCenter is shut down my SBB displays the time. When SqueezeCenter is shut down my SB3 displays a blank screen. Is this a firmware difference, or i
