Aubuti - I dismissed this route originally because I was trying my old
contacts at Hermstedt. When they didn't respond (phone/email) I
assumed the rumours of company problems were true and that the dream
was over - hence my search for alternative help.
do a web search for instructions on switching the hard drive. It
involves a minor hack. Not difficult. Did it once myself.
The other possibility is that your power supply is shot and it can't
power the HD bootup. That can be checked by any reasonably competent
tech.

Hello all
I own a Hifidelio Pro-S. After 5 years, the unit has stopped working
the initial curtains don't open and then the unit freezez. I think the
problem is the HDD - it clicks 10 times for 5 sets and then stops.
I would be most grateful if someone could help me fix it.

I don't mean to be unhelpful, but I think you would have much better
luck going to Hifidelio support. As far as I know Hifidelio has
absolutely no association whatsoever with Logitech or with the
Squeezebox line of products.

I have tried Hermstedt directly as you suggest - but no response as
yet. I heard they went out of business.
I'm just hoping to find someone who knows how I can repair it - either
by myself (with help) or a repair shop of some sort.

I know nothing about the company, but at least their website is still
live. Did you phone them during normal business hours? (follow

The small problem is to find a harddrive, the biggie is to find the
software or is the os running on som flash card or similar ? If it's os
was on the now broken drive you must find a way to reinstall whatever os
and software it was running or repurpose it as something else and
install linux on
Olive used to sell re-branded Hifielio units in the USA. It is a long
shot, but you could check with them.
