That's objectivly better than any crazy tag bending, even if it's just
one recording. I'm not saying it's perfect. But WAY better. (I browsed
here, like God intended , via GENRE (Violinkonzerte), COMPOSER

I think that goes without saying.
That's why I help the way I know best. Sometimes it's by testing stuff,
sometimes it's by telling them what would be really really great and
make them understand that. ;-)

Would it be possible for a plugin to just "scan more and put in the
native db"? I think you did this with FTS. If it's in there, couldn't it
be used for virtual libraries?
It certainly could be done in a plugin. But that plugin would have to
implement a lot of what a "core" integration would

This is so wrong on so many levels. Yuck.

The overwhelming majority of my music collection is classical and I
really have no problem using the existing tags (albeit that I use the
album tag for the work and include the composer and main performer in
the album name).
I've no objection to additional tags but there are work arounds for

Yes, you do. That's how you keep your several recordings of Karajan's
Beethoven's Fifth apart.

I would love "work" tag support. I'm not 100% sure I need "recording".
Any chance @mherger ?
You give a good reason why it's unlikely this is going to happen any
time soon: too many opinions as to what and how things should be
implemented...
The other major reason is time available vs. the

There has been a logstanding request for the GROUPING tag (ID3 TIT1) to
be supported (it's in the bug reporting system somewhere). This could
be used as a work tag.

My music library is mostly classical and the following works very well
indeed for me:
Album tag: individual work in format - - e.g. "Sibelius - Symphony No 3 - C Davis, Boston SO"
Title tag: Movement e.g. "I. Allegro moderato"
Composer tag: Composer, e.g. "Sibelius"
Artist tag(s): Main
Hi
Have you looked at Klarita MUSO, which is still available to use with
Logitech Media Server. It covers so much and as a user I find it
invaluable.
It has specific classical music settings that may be of help to you.
I am not a classical music fan, but enjoy, from time to time, listening

There are enough "How do you tag your music" threads. This isn't
supposed to be one. I, too, use Custom Browse, Custom Scan, and
Multilibrary. But it's just a matter of time (I think) and they stop
working with the latest version of LMS. As I've mentioned in another

The simplest thing to do is use the COMPOSER tag and the built-in
Composer menu. In iPeng I would select the composer, then click on the
cover art, then the track you want to start playback with, then edit the
playlist. This has one advantage over an organized CD collection: for
example, if
Sure, things could be much better. Retagging my library would take
ages... ;)

You're welcome! :) I agree in a way it's a mess. But the method I am

getting the original album is hard.

I've been using my own version of tagging for classical music. Composer
is artist and album is work. For album/work I add hyphen and then the
actual performers (conductor, ensemble, artists, singers,...). Obviously
this method is not nice for compilations with partial works, but for
those I add
