I just wanted to drop back in to say that I have been watching this

thoughts/comments! I will look into VortexBox, as well as Ubuntu

BTW, the funny thing with PineTrail is that the integrated GPU is much

I'm afraid it won't. I've been in the market for a netbook and was

I have Squeezecenter and Squeezeplay loaded on my very modest laptop for

For Squeezenetwork (SN) the simplest thing is to install SoftSqueeze or
SqueezePlay on your netbook and point it to www.squeezenetwork.com. Note
that some music services are not available via SoftSqueeze. (You can
find SoftSqueeze under Extras in SqueezeCenter.)

Thanks you guys. I mainly want to just listen to Squeezenetwork
remotely from the netbook, so I'll review the Wiki and see if it makes
sense to me.

Give your desktop PC (the one running SC) a fixed IP address on your
network. Then as described above, enter that address just once in a
browser on the netbook you use to control SC remotely. Bookmark the
address, and then you can go back to it repeatedly without remembering
what to type in. Reboo

I do sometimes, using my baby Acer Aspire One running Debian...
Is anybody using a netbook to control their SB3? I am currently using a
SB Controller to control my SB3, but I think having the larger screen
of a netbook at my listening chair running SC would be nice.
My SB3 is currently hardwired via CAT5 to a desktop PC running SC. This

If using Windows I would strongly recommend 1GB of RAM, on my HTPC which

probably want to leave EAC running for automated ripping when a CD is

I'm sure you must have sorted it by now.
But for the record, I just installed squeezecenter on the aspire one
and works flawlessly.
Quite a bit of ram goes to perl and mysql as expected, but even in this
model (with 512Mb ram), it's working fine and I experience no slowdowns,

as long as the netbook meets the minimum specs for the squeezecenter
software it should be fine, as since your music is flac the software
shouldn't have to encode the music first.

Hi
Has anyone used a Netbook to stream music to their Squeezeboxes?
During the week I'm "flatbound" in Germany and need to sort out some
music. I've decided to go the SB route as that's what I have at home

However, I don't really want/need another fully fledged PC system

I am tempted to buy a SB Classic, get used to it using its dumb remote,
then buy a netbook to use as an armchair controller, emailer and
surfer.
What is the internal sound like on these various netbooks? I could use
it with earphones as a travelling music box - I wouldn't walk around
the streets
